I'll be the negative nancy on this (of course), but I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I agree with MIHO that I did expect the worse (Sorry, Dead End), but I guess it doesn't wow me too much. Maybe it will grow on me, maybe it won't. I'll see.

 - Morrie's haircut looks emo
 - The chorus sounds too jrock to me
 - instrumental's awesome, vocals are not really my cup of tea. I liked his old vocal style better.
 - Guitar solo kicks ASS.

I pretty much agree with everything you said, MIHO.
It just sounds like a lot of Visual-Kei bands I've heard, and I left that fandom a long time ago because I didn't like the sound. And yeah, the chorus definitely is too jrock.
It after the 1:28 mark when he starts doing that weird raspy... thing. That just screams "Dir en grey" or something to me, and I get annoyed.

I was hoping I would like it as time went on but the opposite is happening...

I don't like the fact that lots of VK bands all resemble each other and sound alike. I was kind of hoping Dead End could make a change here, but no. Instead of being original, they're maybe trying to "be part of the youth"?

But yeah, I liked the old X better too. I'm very curious at what the rest of the new album will be like....

And This new single is hardly as good as the old Dead End.but pretty good nonetheless.

I just hope the rest of the album is back to form.

I like the new sound as much as I like old Dead End's sound,beside they have been absent for about 20 years,much longer than X Japan did,even X Japan has new sound now.As for band image,IMO,though yes probably they tried to be part of it,since vk kinda booming right now,but I think they are more than deserve to put themselves in it,since they have influenced lots of vk bands like Luna Sea,L'Arc~en~Ciel,Kuroyume,Janne de Arc and even Dir en Grey.
