I debated for a long time whether to make it a fully functioning jacket, as his style tends to be, or an actual dress. It was a tough decision but ultimately when I was looking at the reference pictures for it (not from the Celebration PV, because that's a different dress, but the photos), it looked like a real dress. The only clue that it might be a jacket was the buttons. So I thought it would LOOK more accurate to actually make it a dress, and keep the buttons (which I did
).
I didn't actually do the sewing because I fail at that, LOL! But I found the patterns and fabrics and accessories etc. while commissioning my friend's mom to do the actual sewing. I had to oversee a lot, though, to check for accuracy, hehe. It took her about two weeks, once we FINALLY found the right fabrics.
And once I get my special tape on (I was saving it for the real con, since I have a limited supply) I am going to open the jacket a bit more. It will be an illusion, but I will indeed appear to have a boobless man-chest! : D
And yes, that is indeed a hula hoop.... I'm at my friend's house. XD When the con starts, I'll get some quality shots with a better background.
Thank you for all your kind words and nitpicky-ness! (No, I really do like that! Over time I would like to continue improving this costume and your criticisms are necessary for that process.
