I am in my third year of Russian aaand I learned Swedish for a year...
but Swedish is extremely easy to learn when you're german XD

Czech (mother language), fluent in English and Japanese, German (passive)
(little French, understand Slovakian and Polish - but that's easy, as these are Slavic languages as well)

I know both Swedish and English fluently, and can also read Norwegian and Danish (and make a little bit of sense out of Icelandic).

I "can" speak Danish and Norwegian as well.. As in, changing some of the words I know are different and changing the intonation and so.  :D

My native language is English, and the only other languages I can speak is the remains of French/German lessons from school about 5 years ago (which is going to be interesting when I go to Germany in a few months   ).

Mother tongue is Finnish, but my English isn't bad either. I've learned Swedish at school for 4 or 5 years and started learning Japanese last autumn.

Oh, nice thread since I'm studying languages in secondary education.
My mother tongues are Finnish, Swedish and English. I have no idea why my parents talked English to me and my bro when we were just kids. I speak all these languages at home.
Along those three languages, I speak French, German, Russian, Latin and Japanese, and I'm studying all of these at the moment.
I'd love to learn lots of languages, like Icelandic, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese... I just love languages, they are so much fun! :D

Wow, thats alot to learn!
Um,...my parents are vietnamese. The vietnamese language in Chinese and Latin mixed together...I think, thats what I learned when I was little, Vietnamese is very similar to Chinese, but we don't use characters/symbols. We use letters and marks. It may seem easy, but it is VERY hard. I am very good at vietnamese, but am not fit to be a teacher, so don't try to get me to teach you. When I grew up, I spoke both Vietnamese and English, since I was born in America because of the Vietnam War back the 1970's. The first words I learned were like......dog and cat and stuff..Simple words....I almost always went to summer school to learn more and more vietnamese, my parents made me, but I didn't want to go....So I am the smartest in Vietnamese in my Sunday School class. Yay Me!

God, I feel so lame! I only know English. I've been learning Japanese for a little while now and only recently have had any success. My brain doesn't wrap around language easily it seems.

I hope to learn some Cantonese, Hindi and maybe Korean someday. I doubt I will, but it would be interesting.

Haha, if I were learning a language for business, I would probably choose French or Spanish. ;) I haven't seen many customers try to communicate in Hindi, at least around here.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm trying my best!

English. I'm studying Japanese for about 7 hours a day this year, so I'll hopefully be pretty fluent by the spring. I already know more than enough to get around... Reading is difficult, though.

I speak English and Hungarian fluently. I studied Russian in school for 9 years but I haven't used it for a very long time. I also studied German. I hate the irregular verbs! I also understand a bit of Italian/French/Spanish but not enough to write home about it. I'm studying Japanese now just for the fun of it. And I'm secretly hoping that eventually they will take a page out of the book of the ancient Romans and they'll abandon character writing.

Great topic!

I speak English fluently, it is my first language.

I speak Spanish, I've been speaking it for the past three years.
I'm not fluent, yet....almost.

I am currently learning Japanese! I love it!
Although, I do have trouble speaking it.
I add too many intonations to the words. lol
I hope to work/live in Japan in the future, or to at least go there. lol

In addition to all of that I am also learning French.
I love the language and I hope to one day speak it fluently.
Also, to of course visit and/or live in France for a bit.  ;D

My primary language is English and while I don't speak any other languages I can read French with some proficency. Couldn't read a novel or tell anyone exactly what is written but I can understand the jist of a few sentences or paragraphs. Only stuff I really remember how to say though are O Canada, the bare bascics and "Je ne comprende pas Francais. Anglais sil vou plait?/I do not understand French. English, please?" which will serve me well if I ever have to travel to Quebec.

Would like to be able to speak and read it fluently though.
