Thanks again! :P

And I might have a clue, though I'm not sure, if I can explain that in English.
I think that guy in the song is telling us, that he was successful or happy and felt secure there, but then broke down, because it wasn't such a secure situation like he thought it was.
That could be:
He had a job or was living a way of life he really loved and then became too careless, because he felt sure it wouldn't end. He lost because he took it to easy or maybe because he took advice from the wrong people - so he got a deep fall after flying high.
Or (maybe R'n'R reason #1) he had a lover and was happy and thought it would last forever and what ever fluffy cloud nine thing and then it ended - he lost all he loved -> again would mean a deep fall after flying high.

So now at the beginning of the song, he's telling that - he was completely at the end. And it seems like he thinks that everyone should experience that ("But crashin' down the steepest hills is just what I advise ), just to get the following:
Do your own thing (seems do be the #1 message of D.T.R, huh? :P) and fight fight fight! Don't take it too easy, because if in life is going something too easy or too good - there must be someting wrong. So maybe like saying: "life is only worth it to live, if you fight for your own little liberties every day". If you don't take it too easy and if you aren't blind, you'll safe what you fought for.

Or he simply was living an ordinary life with nine to five job and all those things and simply couldn't bear that anymore ("Sick and tired of fools dancin' their routine")- he broke completely down at this point and saw, that this wasn't his own definition of life. So he finally stood up and raised his fist - went his own way.

"Guess it's 'bout time to let them in on the brand new scene" - he shows, that he isn't the loser like everybody might have thought, when he had his down.
"Ain't got time to fool around with all the clowns - I've got to take care of business - get my own thing down" - No fuckin' idiot should say something against his own way or even bug him with their boring nonsense dramas like "my TV is broken, I'm depressed!" - No time for bullshit like that! - because he knows very well, what it means to be really down!

Well... just gussin'. :P Agree? Disagree?

And out of the chaos I heard a voice telling me:
"Smile and be happy - it could have become worse!"
So I smiled and was happy... and it became worse

Agree... Your explanation makes sense to me at least...  8)

This is a pretty funny track to listen to... Taiji's bass on the beginning kicks ass!

Yeah, as usual, Camicat with the great explanation that makes total sense. 8)  Really nice job on that one!

After reading that explanation I got another idea-- if we assume the song is about R'n'R reason #1 (ha, so true about rock songs...), the "I'm here to get ya" stuff could mean he's out looking for another girl, so then the song could also be something about getting on with life rather than getting all emo about a bad breakup.

That would also lend a new meaning to "I've got to take care of business, get my own thing down." :P  Or do I just have my mind in the gutter today?

8) Thank you! But don't applaud too much - I'm gettin' smug! :P
