Covers / Sadistic Desire Cover for hide's birthday
« on: December 14, 2011, 08:10:18 PM »
Since it was hide's birthday yesterday I decided to do a cover of a song he wrote so I chose to do Sadistic Desire. Hope you like it! :D

It's track 5 on Yoshiki's Eternal Melody II album.

Haha Yoshiki. :D Maybe they add more countries to the list... How about finally coming to Finland?  ::) Big finale in Finland? Yes yes.

If they do come to Finland (which would really be my only chance of seeing them), I hope they announce it soon because I've been waiting for them to announce the rest of the Europe gigs so I know whether I have to postpone my obligatory army service or not.

Covers / Re: X Replica (Finnish X JAPAN tribute band)

Well if you want a honest critique I'd have to say as a guitarist that the playing was pretty good and the energy was there. The drummer missed a few cymbal strikes and I couldn't hear his double bass strikes very clearly which led to "X" feeling a bit slower than the original. But the double bass could just be because of the quality of the video, and the cymbals are just very minor mistakes.

The singer is ok but his voice is very low compared to Toshi. I like that he doesn't try to sing as high as Toshi if it's out of his range because that would just sound like a train wreck but then again these songs just don't sound the same without a high soaring voice over the music.

All in all I'd probably give this like a 7 or 8 out of 10. :)

Keep practicing and if your singer can practice to improve his range to sing a bit higher that would make you sound all the better. I'm glad there is now a tribute band for X in my home country and if you ever manage to get lost gigging somewhere near Kiuruvesi I'll certainly come to your gig! :D

2008 countdown gig said that they'd come to Finland in 2009.. One can hope, at least. :)

Yep, that's probably my only chance to see them. I really hope they come to Finland...

lol... Yes the prices DID go up. And they added some new things.

Well, eventhough I love the first t-shirt, I won't get it because the shipping is waaaay to high. :/

Just curious, what was the the price of shipping for you?

All I want is for them to come to Finland, I don't even care what songs they play or what language it's in...well as long as they don't play White Poem I. :)

And they could replace Drain with Week End or Blue Blood or anything else really but as long as they come to Finland I can see them I'll gladly listen to Drain too.

I hope they even loosely stick to what they promised in 2008 countdown gig: They must come to Finland  :P
Nevertheless, I'll surely visit Germany and possibly France and UK too.

The only way I'm ever going to see them live is if they come to Finland so I'm really hoping they come...
There a strong possibility that if they come to the nordic countries they would come to Finland though since that was listed two years ago and the reputation Finland has with a lot of Japanese bands coming here.

Also I have like 5 friends here that I've converted to X fans and we would all come to the gig together.
They might be a bit shocked by the whole visual kei fanbase though since they didn't really listen to any Japanese music until I introduced them to X Japan, Sex Machineguns, Loudness and Anthem. :D

I also have no problem about getting a e-mail from Hypno, I wouldn't have found about it until later otherwise.

Hmm, actually I'm not that happy with my playing in that video. I made a couple of mistakes but I was having so much trouble recording the video I left it as it is. If you want to send me the drums I could record the guitars on top. I think it would be easier that way.

Waaawww! That's a beautiful tribute!
You play very good!!!
Is that drums that I see on the background on the right? Do you play drums too?

They are Rock Band drums but I hope to buy a real drum set some day, since I really want to learn to play drums.
Thanks for the compliment on my playing! :)

Can someone explain to me what this is about? :D
I haven't seen the X Japan Returns lives so I don't know about this.

@Ulquiorra: Me too. I thought Masaya put out a hit on Toshi or something.

Seikima-II is awesome! I'm a big fan.
I also like Sex Machineguns but their music isn't really that similar to X.

Suggestions / Re: X JAPAN tribute band (Finland)
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:43:44 PM »
I wouldn't mind being one of the guitarists but I live in Kiuruvesi so it wouldn't be possible. =]
I also have my own band here that only needs a drummer so once we find a drummer we will probably be playing some X songs as we are all X fans. As a side note, I recently got back from Helsinki with my band mates as we were there to see our all time favorite guitarist Michael Schenker at Nosturi. That man is amazing but not very well-known.

Well good luck to you anyway, maybe you could put some videos up on YouTube or somewhere once you get started so we can check your covers out!

Well if it is a swastika that doesn't mean it necessarily has anything to do with Nazis.

The swastika was a symbol of peace and commonly used all around the world but everyone started thinking it was a Nazi symbol after Hitler the Nazis rose to power.

In Japan the swastika is called a manji and it's used in Buddhism and it can mean love and mercy or strength and intelligence for example. So it's perfectly common in Japan to see swastikas.

Also if you're wearing that necklace it would be straight and therefore a proper swastika instead of a Nazi swastika which is crooked.

Albums/Singles / Re: JADE
« on: May 06, 2009, 12:35:50 PM »
It looks like other people besides me have the same kind of feeling as me.

I don't particularly dislike the song, but I don't think it's that good either.
When I.V. came out I initially was quite surprised since it was different from other X songs, but I slowly grew to like it.
The same is not happening with Jade, it just seems like a work in progress that hasn't been finished yet or something.

I don't know, maybe the studio version will be better.

I'm sorry if I upset anyone but I just wanted to give my opinion on the matter like Hurley and a lot of other people did.

I also miss the harmonic guitars and kick-ass drumming btw.
That's what got me into X in the first place.

I'm not sure what to make of this song.
I know I'd rather have a real guitar solo in it.

Maybe the song will grow on me as I listen to it like I.V did.

Those videos are at least a year old if not older, so I've improved a lot since then.

General chat / Re: Pata Vs. hide: This pisses me off
« on: April 25, 2009, 12:12:34 PM »
It's a common issue.
Some people seem to think that speed is what counts in guitar playing.
I'm a guitarist and while Pata might be a better technical guitarist that doesn't make him a better guitarist than hide overall.
I love listening to fast guitarists, I also love listening to slow guitarists. It doesn't really make a difference how fast you play, the tempo is just another way to express yourself.

In my opinion they were both at their best when they were playing together, that's why you can't really compare them with each other.

Covers / Guitar covers of X and the solo from Endless Rain

Here's a few covers I've put on YouTube so far.
They are pretty old and I could definitely play at least X better but I haven't had the time to re-record it yet. :)

I apologize for the bad sound and picture quality...
Only the newest (if you can call it new anymore) video on there has great sound quality since I found out a way to improve it and will do the same with every video from now on.

Anyway, here are the covers:

Help / Question about hide's guitar pickups
« on: April 25, 2009, 11:55:35 AM »
Yeah, so apparently the pickups that are used in the signature models aren't actually the pickups he used.

Someone on YouTube said he actually had an EMG 81 and Dimarzio Dual Sound as a comment on a video where someone was playing the MG-120X signature model.

Does anyone have any certain information on what pickups he used like info from a score book or something?
Specifically from the Blue Blood and Jealousy era if possible.

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, if anyone has any extra info on how hide's guitars are different from the signature models could you please tell me? :)
