Of course i'm referring to the best television show ever created (obviously not everyones opinion
) and that is
24.
I'm no good at describing stuff so i'll copy and paste from wikipedia and remove the spoilers
24 is presented in real time, with each season depicting a 24-hour period in the life of Jack Bauer, who works with the U.S. Government as it fights threats on its soil. Bauer is often in the field for the fictional Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) as they try to safeguard the nation from terrorist threats. Based in Los Angeles, the show also follows the actions of other CTU agents and government officials associated with the plot.
Real time24 is a thriller that purports to be shown in "real-time," with each minute of airtime corresponding to a minute in the lives of the characters. This real-time nature is emphasized by an on-screen digital clock appearing from time to time—this corresponds roughly to the minute of the broadcast hour, factoring in commercials. The writers often take advantage of the real-time nature of the show by having the characters place time windows on certain events such as terrorist threats, thus strongly hinting that the attack/event will occur before the end of the episode. This has resulted many times in people saying that the event will occur "within the hour," the vast majority of the time.
The action switches between different locations tracing parallel adventures of different characters involved in the same overarching plot. The result is long sections of unseen narrative for each character. A main character might only be seen for a quarter of an episode's overall running time. The notice preceding each episode announcing that "events occur in real time" was only included in the first three episodes of the first season, as well as the premieres of the second and third seasons.
Storytelling and visual style24 employs fast-paced and complex plots.
A recurring theme of 24 has characters faced with the decision of whether or not to let something tragic happen for the sake of a greater good.
Early on, the series frequently used split-screen action to follow multiple plots, although in later seasons this was scaled back somewhat and confined mostly to phone conversations and shots leading into and out of commercial breaks
Season 1 PlotDay 1 begins and ends at 12:00 AM, and occurs on the day of the California presidential primary. Jack Bauer must protect Senator David Palmer from an assassination plot, and rescue his family from those responsible for the plot, who seek retribution for Jack's involvement with a covert U.S. mission in the Balkans
soooooo, any other 24 fans here? I started watching it a bit later than most (I started about the time season 4 was due to air on TV in America). My parents had seasons 1-3 on DVD and I wanted something to watch so they recommended that.. I was hooked instantly. I finished the 3 seasons within a week and 1 week later, season 4 was starting so that worked out quite well. Unfortunately, the end of every episode is left with a "cliffhanger" so it leaves you shocked and wondering what will happen next.. thats all well and good.. but 24 is amazing and having to wait a whole week to find out what happens felt like torture. I struggled through it but made it through without going insane. After that, I decided NOT to watch the next seasons 1 episode per week and instead, I would save them all up until the season is finished and watch it at as I did with the first 3 seasons on DVD. I'm just preparing for season 6 now. I've got them all ready to watch but i'm in work in a few hours so I'm waiting until I finish work and then i'm just going to abuse my TV and watch them all (probably not in one sitting
)
