Welcome to the fandom! It's always warming to see that X manages to attract new fans as well!

I used to download (totes legally u guys!) a whole discographies of bands I liked back when I didn't have a real life, but since around 2010 or so I I have mostly listened to the stuff I have. In recent years I've started using Spotify but not too extensively.

I do listen to X (and some other music from when I downloaded stuff) when I'm driving alone and not listening to podcasts, so a few songs a few times a week I guess...

I have changed the header to something more personal...

Maybe you have to reload or empty your cache to see the shoes of our beloved musicians...  ;D
Good work! The process of turning this forum into a glittery-pants-appreciation-forum may begin :)

Somehow it sounds like every other ToshI song I have heard... Not bad but...

It's weird, can't say I'm thrilled about this... Then again it's Yoshiki's band... And XClamation and Es Dur no Piano Sen are also "X Japan songs". So I'm takinga "meh" stance on this until I hear more details.

And now for some other news!

We have a new X-Freaks chatroom!

We have a new and very active chatroom on Discord. While forums are undeniably the best platform for quality discussion, we needed a hangout spot to chat in real-time about the band and to make friends with other X fans from all over the globe. Come join us for 24/7 company, memes, xmojis, and all kinds of crazy shenanigans!  It's not all strictly X Japan related: whether you want to vent about your bad day, get a bit philosophical or discuss Toshi's peculiar fashion sense, there is always someone around to talk to!

Discord is a group text app that you can download on your phone or PC. For those interested, click here to join our group: https://discord.gg/MHt97qH
[English isn't your first language? No worries, we have a French-only channel and there might be more to come!]

X-related events are a thing again!

Western Kurenight:
Every Saturday there is a group viewing of old X concerts on Rabb.it, at 8 pm UTC.
During group viewings, we stream a concert for everyone and comment it in real-time. Voice chat and karaoke are also an option, for those who dare ;)
Check the program on the Group Viewings thread and feel free to suggest concerts or X videos you'd like us to watch together. Would you like to host a viewing around a specific theme? Let us know!

Korean Kurenight:
Since 8 pm UTC falls in the wee hours of the morning in Asia, lakeisle hosts a special Kurenight for Asian fans every two weeks: feel free to get in touch with her for all the details!

Forum Meetups:

We are planning a meetup in Germany, (possibly) near France, to catch most fans. More to come on this topic!

There will soon™ be a software update

For your convenience, the forum software will soon be updated. We're not sure when the update will take place, but expect the forum to be offline for a couple of hours (or maybe even a day) while we polish it up.
Thanks to this update, encrypted login will be possible and you will also be able to access the page via https (SSL / TLS). We will make sure to inform you in time when this happens.

Last but not least...

We are all here to help support you in your X Japan addictions! Whether you are a 'Heath' who prefers to read rather than post or whether you post as much as Yoshiki (if he were on a drunken Instagram binge) you will always be welcome here to 'dry your tears with love'! So please...'say anything'....as long as you are nice to each other!

If you have any problems feel free to contact us.

Important / Announcements: new staff & other stuff
« on: June 14, 2018, 06:52:17 AM »
Dear X-Freaks,

A lot has been going on recently, and Yoshiki is not the only one who has important announcements to make! As you might have noticed, our forum was offline for a short while and I myself have not been very active in the recent... 7 years or so. Meanwhile, X Japan is alive and kicking again and we have a new active chatroom.

But first things first....

We have new staff!

While I do plan to try to be more active in the realm of X fandom again, I realize that I won't be able to be quite active enough to keep this community up and running and even maybe growing. So, to lighten my load, in addition to our veteran admin AsukaMiyu, three new people recently joined the X-Freaks Forum staff. Fluffy, matsumoto and nb - at your service and actively working on making this forum great again! On to the presentations:

    New administrators: nb and matsumoto

Hello, I'm a guy
look, there is a butterfly!

My name is Julien and I was born in 1987. In the first place I didn't like X Japan because of all the hype about HIDE. Later I discovered a band called X from Japan. They had this one album, "Vanishing Vision" which I'd heard a couple 100 times. And then, still not aware they were the same, I bought myself "Blue Blood". I was shocked how great it was. And I was more shocked when I realised, that it was this shitty band with this HIDE and the drama queen YOSHIKI :D So, to all the haters, yes, I deserve yours. Give it to me ^___^
Why am I into japanese music? Maybe I'm tired of all the western stuff and I also liked Anime and Manga since the late 90s... I spend my holidays regularly in japan.  I started being an X fan about 2004 or so, but not as an active member in an international community and I wanted to change this now.
Oh, and my wife is also a member in this forum ^_____^

Hi everyone, matsumoto here! My name is Lucy, I'm 27 and I curently live in Paris, France. I've been a fan of the band since around 2004 and... hey, it's safe to say it's a long-lasting love affair! I first joined this forum around 2007 and it truly is a source of great memories.
Besides X, I like Star Wars, rock and metal in general, motorcycles, cringe comedy and plenty of other nerdy stuff.
I currently work in journalism, but I'm thinking of tossing my corporate self to the wind so I can just chill and open a cat café somewhere. Nice to meet you all! 8)

Hi Everyone I'm Fluffy! Well that's not my actual name and i'm not actually 'fluffy' but I am a lover of all cute and fluffy things. I'm 35 (sigh..☹) from the UK and have developed a healthy/unhealthy love of our Japanese rockers after seeing them at the Wembley concert in 2017. When i'm not slaying inner demons and trying to construct a real 'adult' life I am often found in the chatroom, sometimes trying to speak bad French on the French chat section or just sitting in the 'Endless Rain' waiting for Toshi, Yoshiki or Sugizo to turn up at my door with blue roses and take me on a date

Please welcome them in their new jobs and support them in their efforts to improve and enhance the X-Freaks eXperienceTM  :D

I think we should all take a step back and wait to see that nothing bad has happened first. Yoshiki has people to post on Twitter for him and they didn't make the announcement either, which means whatever they planned on announcing didn't line up. We don't know what or maybe even WHO was involved that might have changed things.
Oh, the fact that Yoshiki's/X's staff is pretty incompetent is long known in the fandom...

I was really surprised when I heard a k-pop song on my local radio while driving. Turns out BTS has somehow pierced this bubble that previously one man has been able to - Psy :P

If I had to guess I'd also go with some festival dates over a new album release date (which we've had many over the last 10 years)... Actually I would really like a DVD of the first World Tour they did back in 2011.

Oh and I'm sure any albums they release will have a physical version - that way You can have the two normal versions and four to six limited editions, which fans will all buy ;)

Personally I hope that X Japan will create music for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
I think it's more probable (if they go down that route) that it'll be a Yoshiki project, akin to the tracks he made for the Emperor's coronation anniversary or Golden Globes. Or Hello Kitty....

« on: May 18, 2018, 06:36:48 PM »
The album has been more ready and coming quite a few times in the last 10 years now. While I agree that MM's involvement raises the chance that it actually happens, I remain cautious. I'm not sure Manson+X Japan would be something good but ToshI singing Personal Jesus... Now that would be something interesting :D

Why the fuck not. It looks great! Except maybe for the skirt...  :D

Toshi / Re: AK-69 ft. Toshl: Brave
« on: May 18, 2018, 06:29:05 PM »
At first I thought that a new song started, didn't really fit. After that it seemed that a ToshI song was just mixed into the hip-hop track. Something similar to the Trance X Japan horror story that came out a while ago... The second time he sings it fits in a bit better but still... I'm not a fan of this one, sorry.

Oh he has announced the album plenty of times :) So even if he does, I wouldn't get too hyped.

Jo, kyllä! I remember at the 2011 European concerts we had like 7-8 Finnish fans in our group alone. But many of them are not that active any more I guess...

So with Yoshiki's recent surgery I guess we'll have to wait for the single release a bit more... It would make sense to release it just before releasing the album though?

Good luck with the event, I know Finland has a high concentration of X Japan fans!

For those of you who didn't see the link or don't use facebook, the meeting is planned to take place on September 8th at Tracon, which takes place on September 8-10 in Tampere.

News / Re: NEW ALBUM!!! March 11th + XDAY March 12th
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:58:57 PM »
Maybe SLS hasn't been performed at bigger concerts due to some copyright issues?

I can't imagine a living legend like Yoshiki not getting performance rights to any song he composes for a Japanese movie recorded with his own band. I mean you might be on to something since I can't come up with anything better, but it'd be pretty strange too, when I think about it.
It would be weird, since he has the rights to I.V., which was also written for a movie soundtrack, and not a small, unknown movie as well. But the only other option I can think of would be that Yoshiki himself doesn't like SLS...

And "emotional fans" as a selling point... is a bit weird. Somehow I don't feel very represented as a fan, either, haha. :D
It seems more to please the existing fangirls than to get new fans...

I'm surprised the guy who does the podcast has been able to get such good guests, haha
Apparently it's only a matter of being confident and writing to people. But seriously, in the interviews I've heard this far (up to episode 5) the people have seemed really chill and happy to discuss their experiences.

News / Re: New X Japan Podcast
« on: November 24, 2015, 10:18:37 PM »
I'm resurrecting an old thread, mostly because I just started listening to the podcasts myself. I have know of about them since the beginning more-or-less, but I've always put off listening to them. But today I started and haven't been able to stop. The guy who's making the podcasts has been able to contact and interview several people who have worked with X in the past and the podcasts have some really interesting insights and information that was previously unknown.

So I'll post here all the episodes (this far) with a short description and I assure you they are all worth a listen.

Episode 1 - Bruce Miller/MSG - features an awesome extended interview with recording legend Bruce A Miller who mixed songs on Jealousy.

Episode 2, part 1 - Eric Westfall and hide, and part 2 - hide - talk about hide and feature an interview with Eric Westfall, who recorded and mixed hide's Psyence and Ja, Zoo albums, as well as songs on Dahlia and Dope HEADz album.

Episode 3 - Shiratori Hitomi - discusses Yoshikis alternate personalities with our very own Asuka. Also mentions X-Freaks a few times so a big whoop! to Asuka! :)

Episode 4 - Chris Camacho - features an interview with Chris Camacho, who was Yoshikis physical trainer in the beginning of the 90s.

Episode 5, part 1 and part 2 discuss with some X fans different possibilities that might have happened if certain things had gone differently in the past, very interesting discussions indeed.

Episode 6 - Catch up & X Day wraps up the (then) latest news concerning future X Japan activities

Episode 7 - Chris Camacho returns is another great interview with Yoshikis old physical trainer where they discuss more about Yoshiki's health, touring with X during the Violence In Jealousy tour and partying with Taiji

Episode 8 part 1, part 2 and part 3 discuss the Visual shock elements and era of X.

Episode 9 - Dokk Knight features an interview with Dokk Knight, who has worked with Yoshiki on Dahlia, Violet UK and much more!

Feel free to discuss the podcast episodes here but also make sure to like the X Japan Podcast page on Facebook and join in on the conversation there!

So, this is obviously an old topic, but the new song has been released for quite some time now.

Here is the 'vocaloid hide' version of the song.

And here is the original demo version of the song, which was also released.

What do you think?

By the way, X Japan Podcast did a pretty good episode (in two parts - part 1 and part 2) on this song and hide in general, about a year ago. Part 1 also includes an interview with Eric Westfall, who worked with hide's solo projects as a sound engineer.
