General chat / Did Toshi screw up X Japan again?
« on: January 20, 2023, 09:14:38 PM »
It's 2023, and if there's one thing I'm already sick to death of seeing, it's The Last Rockstars content.

I mean, come on. This is really what we're getting from Yoshiki now? Let's see what the expiration date of this will be beyond S.K.I.N or any of the other endeavours.

But one thing about TLS with Hyde being the vocalist, actually got me thinking about Toshi. So where exactly is Toshi and what exactly is this man doing these days?

We all know the Masaya brainwash story and how it fucked up X Japan in the beginning, and how they reunited and Yoshiki actually saved Toshi from financial ruin by giving him a second chance with the band.

Why does it seem like this is happening all over again? Why do I have a feeling like there's some legal garbage that's connected to Toshi that's delaying and delaying X Japan activity?

https://ameblo.jp/toshl-official/entry-12785266898.html - based on a recent tweet from him, I checked out his blog and he seems quite active! Wow, ok so is this guy just snubbing X Japan again?

Would love to hear other opinions and even news relating to this. We know Yoshiki is very vague about the reasons why the album is delayed, but it seems there's legal trouble. My bet is it's with Toshi (again). SIGH.

General chat / Yoshiki update on new album
« on: July 27, 2022, 12:59:38 PM »
https://www.revolvermag.com/music/yoshiki-new-x-japan-album-kiss-fandom-real-gold-xy-energy-drink

IS THE NEW X JAPAN ALBUM ALMOST DONE?

YOSHIKI: I don't think anybody's going to believe what I say [laughs] because I kept saying that. I was at the mixing studio today. Might as well just remix something and make it better, because we are not really rushing to release the album right this moment. So I'm just fine tuning a little bit. But if I had to release it next week, it's done.

HAS THE ALBUM'S DIRECTION CHANGED OVER THE YEARS YOU'VE WORKED ON IT? OR IS IT CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL IDEAS YOU HAD?

YOSHIKI: It's pretty much the original idea. With this kind of music, sometimes there's a trend in terms of sound or mixing or sound effect.  But I don't think X Japan needs to chase trends. X Japan is its own genre. So the idea of this album hasn't been changed. I'm just doing a little fine tuning up to the release date.

So.... Basically Yoshiki has truly become a megalomaniac who lives in his own world. For years I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and attributing the delays to things beyond his control, but it's clear now he doesn't give a f*** how long we have to wait. And only he will know when it's "time". Cut the bullshit. It's really so f*****g disrespectful to your fans who aren't idiotic 'kawaii omg Yoshikiiiii' Japanese women.

hide / hide and Ricky Martin
« on: January 05, 2022, 02:56:22 AM »
I had an amusing discovery recently that I wanted to share, considering I usually stop by once a year to complain about Yoshiki.

For the first time in about 15-20 years, I heard "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, and call me crazy, but I immediately thought of hide. I feel like he would have absolutely dug this song. The progression, melody, and instrumentals are totally something I could see him doing. Then there's the guitar. At 2:43 in the song, there's this guitar slide that's strummed all the way down the neck and it's just like what hide would do in a song like Ever Free (1:23 mark). HAHA this has me laughing my ass off. Both artists couldn't be more different.

This song came out in 1999, a year after we lost hide, so he never had a chance to hear it. I wonder if he would have liked it. What a guy - he really was ahead of his time and cultural boundaries musically.

Have some fun and take a listen for yourself. I can literally hear hide singing this song in a funky voice and making it sillier. Let me know what you think. Maybe I'm losing my mind entering the 2nd year of the pandemic :)

General chat / RIP X JAPAN
« on: January 12, 2019, 02:49:40 PM »
2019 is well underway and here we are over 10 years since X Japan reunited. Let's see what we have going for us...

- No album release in sight.

- No promise of more tours/shows outside of Japan.

- Rumors of difficulties between Yoshiki and Toshi.

- Yoshiki increasingly more interested in anything other than X Japan (Hyde, Sarah Brightman, his wine label...)

- Neutered songs by lowering key (Rusty Nail, Kurenai, Silent Jealousy) in their most recent show at Makuhari Messe. Sounds flat and dreadful. I can't believe they've done that to such masterpieces.

- Increasingly more obvious that Yoshiki cannot write good rock songs anymore without hide.

I'll always remember this band for what they were and what they gave to me through their music but the future in my opinion is pretty grim for them. Label this post dramatic, silly, unfounded, or whatever pleases you. I'll always consider giving a listen to whatever they put out but I've removed all hopes and expectations. It will be what it will be.

General chat / X Japan - Major announcement tomorrow
« on: August 18, 2018, 02:10:34 AM »
@YoshikiOfficial has a big announcement tomorrow. We hope everything is OK. #XJapan #Yoshiki

https://twitter.com/YoshikiChannel/status/1030294782751342592

Yoshiki's been very quiet lately. Let's hope this is the announcement we've been waiting for - album release date and/or touring information. Strange line to put "We hope everything is OK"; especially coming from the official X Japan Twitter...lol

Yoshiki / Impending postponement/delay
« on: May 09, 2017, 02:51:21 PM »
Is anyone else who follows Yoshiki on Twitter getting the vibe that there's another impending postponement/delay coming up? He's getting very dramatic again about his "body breaking down" and "no matter what happens to my life, i'll be back". Hopefully this is just some dramatic attention grabbing but knowing their history, I'm preparing for the worst. I think I'm just going to remove myself from all things X Japan if they delay the album officially again. This is painful as a fan.

Taiji / Why Taiji was fired by Yoshiki
« on: October 18, 2016, 01:21:04 AM »
After watching the WeAreX doc, I can't get over how frustrating the part was where Yoshiki said he cannot say why Taiji was fired. The interviewer even said, "not even after all of this time?" and Yoshiki responds, "I just can't", and prior to that, "He did something he should not have done".

It's clear that Taiji was a strong force in the band and challenged Yoshiki a lot and his ideas were in a different direction. I'd like to know what everyone here speculates on why he was let go. My best guess is that he tried to undermine Yoshiki and almost pull a coup in the band, not by necessarily killing him, but by trying to persuade the others to either leave and start a new band or split them up. Yoshiki said in the doc, "if i didn't fire him, X was over".

It seems kind of silly that even after all this time he still refuses to talk about it but knowing how Japanese society emphasizes honour, perhaps something like what I suggested is considered unspeakable in their culture. Thoughts?

Yoshiki / Yoshiki @ Otakon 2016
« on: August 12, 2016, 10:49:28 AM »
Yoshiki was announced as the final LAST MINUTE guest on August 9th to be at Otakon this year. He was supposed to have a live panel/Q&A where he'd make a "big announcement"; last night his appearance was canceled due to "production commitment" but will instead due the Q&A live on Skype. http://www.otakon.com/news_article.asp?id=3143

Honestly, ANYTHING X Japan related is such a gamble these days. I'm sure I saw on Twitter people booking travel just to see him at Otakon last minute. What kind of morons work for him to make these kinds of scheduling mistakes?? I wonder if the "big announcement" will get swept under the rug now. If nothing big is announced, we'll know the whole thing was a lie due to ANOTHER delay. Yoshiki needs a reality check.

Yoshiki / Yoshiki's hair
« on: August 06, 2016, 01:40:43 PM »
Completely random topic but I'm curious on what the consensus is on Yoshiki's hair. Do you think he wears any extensions or a hair piece? All natural? His hair hasn't changed much at all since the the late 90s.

General chat / Yoshiki announcement 2pm Japan time (July 25)
« on: July 24, 2016, 02:45:29 PM »
https://twitter.com/YoshikiOfficial/status/757148386940194816

In case anyone is curious, Yoshiki is saying there is an "important" announcement tomorrow at 2pm Japan time. Figured I'd share IN CASE it's actually good news and not some stupid venture like Yoshikimono or Yoshikitty....even the WeAreX news is getting dry; just release the damn thing world wide as a Bluray so we can buy and watch for f sake.

General chat / Do something about this forum
« on: April 27, 2012, 03:47:22 PM »
I can't believe how badly spammers have ruined this forum/community. Admins, whoever you are, please do something about this. I used to look forward to checking X-Freaks almost daily for news/input...but now it's become a joke. Does anyone care anymore?

Sugizo / Member of both bands
« on: December 02, 2011, 12:42:13 AM »
This has been bugging me for a while but has anyone else wondered that since Sugizo has become a member of X Japan that it will be very hard for Luna Sea to do tours or concerts? It's obvious that they are not as focused as X Japan are in terms of reuniting and touring the world but what if they would like to but Sugizo is holding them back? It's odd to me and I wonder if Yoshiki got Sugizo to sign some contract (we'd probably never know) or if Sugizo truly prefers X Japan now. By the sounds of it, X Japan is aiming to do a full on world tour in 2012 that is bigger than this years' so that potentially leaves Sugizo no time to participate in Luna Sea activities. I'm certainly more of an X Japan fan, but I do enjoy some of Luna Sea's material which is why I've been wondering this.

It also makes me wonder if Luna Sea fans dislike Yoshiki since they may view him as "stealing Sugizo", you know? I imagine there are tons of fans in Japan who like both bands but then I bet there are lots who like one and not the other.

Thoughts?

X JAPAN World Tour / X JAPAN World Tour 2012
« on: November 13, 2011, 10:06:32 PM »
I figured it's time to begin a fresh, new thread for the supposed, 2012 tour. I'm guessing from now until January will be a time for the band to cool off, do some solo work, and HOPEFULLY Yoshiki will release the album.

hide / hide t-shirt - where to buy?
« on: October 12, 2011, 08:34:09 PM »
I've been looking online for any of the t-shirts that hide commonly wore, specifically the one in this video... I believe it says "Albis" on it..? Anyway, I always thought he wore some cool quirky shirts so if anyone knows where to buy them or how to search for them I'd be thankful.

Toshi / ToshI's offical Twitter
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:27:15 PM »
I have found what I think is ToshI's official twitter, however, can someone confirm if this is really him replying to tweets? http://twitter.com/#!/toshivoice

Even with a translator, I cannot make sense of this. "X JAPANのToshIの名MC(迷MC)や名言(迷言)などをつぶやくbotです。一定時間ごとに気合の入った言葉をつぶやきます。あなたのツイートやリプに反応して発言することもあるかも・・・要望、つぶやきのリクエスト等があればDMで受け付けています。 "

Albums/Singles / Tears - English ver.
« on: August 20, 2010, 05:28:20 PM »
Looking to figure out the lyrics of the new version...so far this is what I have deciphered.

Tell me love/now...where can I go from here
in the world in the distance to heaven
song of love, has it ever reached out to, the sky will it ever be with you
it's been a while since I saw your smile, time after time, (i thought I/it was lost?)
My love is strong, I didn't wanna fail in your eyes, I've lost my heart, I won't run away
(next line I just can't figure out lol)
when a life has shadowed a memory?
still blazing love still be the same?
but sometimes I sing in bloody rain
dry you tears with love, dry your tears with love
(original english part begins before solo/rest of song)

X JAPAN World Tour / No information?
« on: August 25, 2008, 01:16:05 PM »
It's been a while since X has released any further information about the World Tour. Could they be waiting until ticket sales for Paris are over or sold out to begin announcing other stops? *cough* North America *cough*...maybe they have many exciting things planned but their lips are sealed tight because they don't want another UK incident to happen again. All I know is that all of this waiting for information or news about other stops is driving me insane.

Art of Life Live aka X Japan Returns / hide's guitar
« on: March 19, 2008, 07:48:08 PM »
Just received my box set last week and I am completely impressed and I am enjoying it thoroughly. However, one thing I have noticed throughout the concerts is hide's guitar volume is incredibly low. Is there any reason for this and has anyone else noticed this? It's almost painful to try and listen to his wonderful solo's, especially during Art of Life.

Merchandise / hide guitar models
« on: March 02, 2007, 04:27:12 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked quite a few times but does ANYONE know where I could buy/bid for one of the Fernandes hide models? So far all I have seen are Japanese auction sites which are no good for someone like me in North America. No luck with eBay either, so if anyone has anything please let me know.

Thanks!
