Speaking of AC/DC:

How about Thunderstruck? Just imagine Mitsuo with that weirtd voice screaming:

"THUNDER!"

Yoshiki / What music did Yoshiki listen to growing up/influences?
« on: June 25, 2008, 09:53:32 PM »
Well, on X early days and pre-X bands (Dinamite and Noise) they did covers from some bands like:

Deep Purple
Led Zeppelin
Frank Marino (World Anthem was released on "Blue Blood", but apparently they had already covered it on Noise, in 82!)
Loudness
Iron Maiden
Sex Pistols

Since Yoshiki was always like, the "boss", I guess we can assume he at least likes these bands, or he wouldn't cover them...

@Arucard yeah, definitely try before you buy just in case-- out of curiosity, which albums disappointed you lately?

The last two were Megadeth's "United Abominations" from 2007 and Ozzy's "Black Rain" from the same year...

It's not like they're awful albums, but I just had really high hopes on both, and neither lived up to them... But to be honest, Ozzy's was far more disappointing than Megadeth's... After all, Dave Mustaine is still kicking major ass, while Ozzy is just struggling to sing anything...

Oh yeah, I think you might like them, they're basically an '80s metal version of blues-rock.  Kinda like Cinderella, but even more blues-oriented.

Well, sounds like I'm definitelly gonna like them... There's no such thing as too much Blues influence on a Rock band...

Gonna try to find some songs to download first, because lately I had some disapointments buying albums from unknown bands...  8)

So under the first photo there it says "ex. Trash (haha)" and under the second one "ex. Dementia (haha)".

Uh, what?  I'm guessing he might be making fun of the constant "ex X, ex Loudness" tacked onto his name by being "ex" his old obscure indies bands?  That's pretty cool of him if that's indeed what he's doing.

Well, if that's what he's doing than it's definitelly funny...

It's nice to see that instead of getting mad with all this "ex-whatever" thing he's actually making fun of it...

That's right, Taiji is a Great White fan!  I thought I saw him wearing a Great White shirt in some other photos I'd seen, now this confirms it.

I become even more impressed by Taiji's excellent taste. 8)

Never heard of Great White before... Well... One more band to my list of stuff to check... 8)

The Black Mages rock!!! It's all about "The Skies Above", just an amazing song all around.

I'm a huge fan of them as well, mate... To me the " The Skies Above" album is the best of the three, but my favorite song is dewfinitelly "Matoya's Cave"... That rhythm change, from a nice acoustic intro, to a jazzy passage, then to a bluesy one... IT ROCKS!

Listening to:

Gargoyle - Purple Heaven

I was already upset at the fact that Taiji didn't perform in hide's memorial summit, but this is just ridiculous... I mean, yeah, he and Yoshiki had their problems, but isn't Taiji there on the Attitude movie with Pata sitting on his side? Yoshiki is not the only fuckin' member in X, nor was he hide's only friend... Taste you karma now, b*tch!    [don't hate me for this, Yoshiki fangirls... I do wish him to recover as quickly as possible asnd I don't believe in this karma shit...  8) ]

Judas Priest- Future of mandkind(Nostradamus album)

Nice, how is that album?  Thinking of buying it...

Guns 'n Roses - Rocket Queen

I heard some songs of it too, and it sounds pretty nice... It's different from Judas Priest traditional sound... Sounds heavier, more Power Metal-ish... I still gotta listen to all the 23 songs of it efore I can really say if it's good or not, though...

Fumihiko Kitsutaka - Ambition

Well, that dude said X-JAPAN was pop-oriented... If you make a list of all the songs released under the X-JAPAN name, then I don't think he's wrong... To me everything released after "Art Of Life" was definitelly pop-oriented...

Same here... If the main riff was a little heavier and the harmonica piece was a little bigger I would definitelly see it as a D.T.R song...

Totally agree.  I wonder if you'd even need to change the riff itself, or just play it with a heavier/dirtier guitar sound?

Can completely imagine this with Mitsuo's "Rumpelstiltskin" voice...

I don't think changing the riff itself would be necessary... Since this is a Taiji song probably the riff was his idea, so I guess it would be the same riff if this was written with D.T.R. instead of X...

And yeah, I always pictured D.T.R doing a cover of this song... It would kick major ass on Mitsuo's voice!

And what's interesting is that (to me anyway) the song really sounds about halfway between X's style and DTR's style already.  With just a few modifications I can nearly imagine this as a DTR song...

Same here... If the main riff was a little heavier and the harmonica piece was a little bigger I would definitelly see it as a D.T.R song...

I really love Desperate Angel... It's definitelly one of my favorite X tracks ever and together with Voiceless Screaming, one of the tracks that made me an X fan...

Or if not DTR, then back to Cloud Nine at least?  Ideally both, but I'm guessing that's too much to hope for right now. :P

Well, second that... I was really looking forward to more material from Cloud Nine or D.T.R, but I guess we're gonna have to wait a little more... =/

And someone, please, tell us what he's saying on the video!

Yeah, Eizo is about to come to Brazil to perform in an anime event... But it's fuckin' miles away from where I live so I'm not gonna be able to go...

Over here in Brazil Eizo is very famous as Animetal's singer, and only a few people like me know his work with Anthem or other Metal bands...It's not the first time Eizo performs live in Brazil, but all his shows here were related to JAM Project, or other anime-related stuff (no Animetal though...   )...

Albums/Singles / Origins of hide?
« on: June 10, 2008, 09:48:24 PM »
As far as I know all of these "Origin of hide" material are live stuff...

The two cd's have a very similar tracklist, but they're from different concerts, and on the "Origin Of hide Vol. 2" there are some jam sessions too... The complete titles of the cd's are:

Origin Of hide Vol. 1 - 1986 10.5 LIVE STATION - VISUAL LOUD & CULT LIVE!

Origin Of hide Vol. 2 - BEST LIVE & MAKING!!

The video is apparently a recording of another concert... The full title of it is:

Origin Of hide Vol. 3 - LIVE 1986!!

I only have an audio rip of the video, but all of the three are great stuff... Highly recommended!

Man... This is like, the fourth time I'm trying to post on this thread... Weird thing... O.o

And just to keep the off-topic goin' on... Nice to see that Taiji kept on wearing his Loudness wristband... I really believe Taiji was 'happy' as a Loudness member... I still can't figure out why he left them...

Other Bands / Keyboard or No Keyboard?
« on: June 05, 2008, 01:52:15 AM »
Yeah, maybe I made a HUUUGE confusion...  8)

What I meant is that kind of keyboard sound that you usually listen to in 80's Pop or Rock songs, or in game soundtracks... I don't know if there's a particular name for that kind of keyboard sound in english, but in portuguese we usually associate that with the word "synthetizer"... Or whatever...
