What a joke. They can't even release a digital single on time when the rest of the promised areas got it? And they had 14 months and all they could come up with is this generic ass PV?

Wow.

This thread tooootally lost it's focus. =P

I gotta agree with Anna on this one.. There is no Grassy Knoll here, just an extremely regrettable mistake from one of the world's greatest musicians.  Period.  As much as one might like the glamor of suicide or want something more from a culprit than a towel, it is what it is.  Leave it alone.

In other news... I'm having a party at my place on Dec. 10th, the friday, for hide.  Each room with a TV is gonna be showing hide music videos or an X-Japan concert.  We're gonna have drinks- Rusty Nail, Pink Spider, Blue Blood, etc- and some ice cream, a cake, etc.

Anyone else celebrating the day?

Depends. Decided not to go to the "birthday party", and then visiting his grave on his birthday fell through so I guess I'll to Harajuku and say hey to the Yellow House people or something. =/

I think being relatable would be a chore

Anything worth having is a chore. You can't come over here totally aloof and think a lot of people are going to fall in love with you. Luckily Toshi seems like he's being pretty engaging on stage, but Pata and Heath need to up their game.

They're hired guns, and probably don't really wanna be doing any of this, Yoshiki even said recently in an interview that he had been in conflict with "some band members" who were entirely unenthusiastic about playing America. To them it's just a well paying job, and I can't blame them for acting that way. They get paid significantly less than Yoshiki and have been frozen-out creatively for a long, long time.

Dude I worked at Wendy's in high school and pretended to be enjoying myself when I was working the front counter....because that's what I was getting paid for.  Session musicians and hired guns put on great shows all the time. Back up dancers put on great shows all the time. Two supposed rock stars making what is surely a lot of money can pretend to be having fun.

Woot, thanks Tanabata! Yes, it´s this one here :  http://filmmakermagazine.com/loadandplay/uploaded_images/twin_peaks_1-727291.jpg

One more mystery solved ^^

Glad to be of some help.  Most of the posts recently have been about the North American tour and, as I live in Japan, I don't have much to say!  I'm a resident "expert" on Yokosuka and all the hide "spots" there but not much else!  And, of course, I know the record shop Lee mentioned...it's Yajima Records, a kind of dedication to hide.  I've dropped a packet there over the last few years...kept them in business!

I like Yokosuka and Miura, I'm planning to head back down there next weekend. Anything you recommend I do? So far I've been to Sarushima, Mikasa Park, hide's grave, and walked quite a bit of the ocean side of the peninsula on the beach. And I had curry of course.

They need to seem relatively relate-able. People in America hate out of touch rock stars. That's why so many people make fun of Bono, Guns and Metallica.

I was in Yokosuka the other day and this music shop had a hide calender on display. Not sure what year it was, wasn't this years, but the photos were all parodies of movie posters such as Scarface and A Clockwork Orange. Judging by his hair I'm guessing the year of the calendar release was sometime after 1998.

It was pretty cool, but I can't find any images of it online. Anyone have it?

You should have been contacted today about your tickets.

You are getting them if you participated.

And to think. People think I'm terrible because I didn't like one fucking concert.

I have all the emails sent by Penelope cus Im a packrat like that. I emailed Penelope/Nolan Braxell about the free tickets on Monday, the day tickets went on sale. I got no response and still havent, L.A. floor tickets slipped by me on Wed the 18th, I hated the world, found 2 Floor tickets on stubhub which came out cheaper in total than buying from livenation if I had jumped the gun. So i guess some good came out of it. Great success /Borat.

Moral of the story, dont rely on a promise made a little over a year ago.

Can you forward me anything you have about the Ticket promise? I'm going to send it to X Japan's American touring manager.

Was this Yoshiki Discovery thing ever OFFICIAL? Like was Yoshiki actually involved in it/knew about it/supported it? I highly doubt it has any relevance now considering all of their up's and down's since that point. I'd say go for it if X Japan's management was involved but if they weren't, I doubt you will get anywhere lol. All I gotta say is for you guys counting on this, don't let the tickets that are on sale slip away because you're going to need them as a backup! Don't rest upon this :O

Well I found out the dude running it was legit. So we'll see. I emailed him, and another dude. Next step is X Japan management.

We really need a copy of the agreement to get this ball rolling. So we can show it to any of the new people involved. Now, I can't go to the USA shows because I'm in Japan. So I'm only going to devote so much time to this. If anyone else wants their tickets they are going to have to go out onto other forums and hunt for screen caps if we can't find them on a member here.

I'm starting up a mission to get our tickets in form of X Japan tickets.

I've emailed the Yoshiki Discovery people, but I suspect those email addresses are probably dead.

I'll give that a few days before I start moving up the ladder. X's manger, Yoshiki's manger, etc.

In the mean time. If anyone has a copy of the promise that was made, if you saved a screen cap or something, I'd be grateful if you could upload it or email it to me.

Thanks.

hide / Re: Headwax suing Yoshiki for using hide's image in concerts?
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:59:23 AM »
All these articles tell me is that they are using hide for revenge on Yoshiki for something I don't think he actually did (not purposely anyways). Yes it sucks for the companies going bankrupt, but what the hell kind of company only invests in one band? It's just as much their fault as it is Yoshiki's. He didn't bankrupt them to be mean. Bands cancel tours, it happens to everyone. It's unfortunate, people lose money, butit's reality. A good company works to make it through the problems, they don't use the image of a man that is not with us anymore to get revenge. This is simply wrong. He's not leverage to get revenge. He's not an object to be used to stab at Yoshiki. He's a man that Yoshiki wants to honor and give him something that he always wanted, to be known through out the world.

Yoshiki is mostly in charge of the show productions, and doesn't appear to have really tried to stay in budget. The hide hologram alone was 500,000 USD.

But revenge aside, Hiroshi owns the rights to hide's image. Yoshiki said he wasn't going to use hide, but then did so without a contract. This is illegal. That's the bottom line.

If you think Yoshiki is above the law then that's another matter and there's no point arguing with you.

For the record, Nexstar and their parent company DID invest in other bands than X Japan.  As I said in my blog post, the parent company even had Glay. The record industry is in rough shape, and X Japan failed to deliver a profitable tour or a CD. Its not like there are just piles of bands laying around in Nexstar capable of making that money back. Most of the big bands in Japan are pop bands, and Nexstar was mostly a visual label I believe.

Bottom line once again though: Yoshiki violated Headwax/Hiroshi's IP rights.

Here's a little bit on the Japanese concept of "Right of Portrait"

and a little bit of why Hiroshi could have legitimate reason for this lawsuit other then a cash grab or revenge.

From xradicaldreamers

"Hear Japan , a company sells That mp3 of Japanese bands, Replied To Our tweet with the lawsuit news, Saying this:

It's more about revenge because Yoshiki bankrupted their entire corporation with his antics."

https://twitter.com/HearJapan

I would like to quote this simply because this guy has some insight as to what's going on, where-as you're all making wild guesses.

Wait, they're saying Yoshiki bankrupted Headwax?

What crap is this? Headwax have had no involvement since the reunion, either financial or orchestrational (discounting the Hide memorial summit, which they hired X Japan to perform at) with either Yoshiki or X Japan.

Headwax have conducted their own business for years now on their own accord, if they're enduring any financial hardship then it can in no way be attributed to X Japan's activities. If anything, X Japan's resurgence has increased their business, not the opposite.

They're just money-grubbing. They want to cash in on X Japan because they're out of fresh product to put Hide's name on. They're just throwing the dummy out of the pram to either force Yoshiki into signing a new deal (thus making a potentially protracted court case magically disappear) or to generate themselves a little extra income.

I'm seriously impressed with Hiroshi, I never thought that there would be any more ways to drag Hide's name through the gutter. Maybe he saw that X Japan were just starting to get a little bit of stability and slowly phasing his brother's name out of the band, so felt inclined to do something stupid to get 'Hide' back into the Japanese tabloid headlines. After all, he should know better than most how lucrative that can be, the tills didn't stop constantly ringing until months after Hide died.

Ok team, into the huddle.

I'll go get actual info, while you make stuff up.

On three, go team.

one, two, three GO TEAM.

Music concerts are MUSIC concerts, not fashion shows (ironical?). People want to see band, right. But they want to see the band PLAYING.

X Japan its special band , it has preformance arts and ectecera , not only band playing music :)

Theres alot of normal bands to see , if you want to see normal band just playing music :)

X Japan is a good band to go see if you want to see nothing happening for 10, 15 minutes at a time 3 or 4 times a show. Bring a book!

It is just an indsider's opinion a.k.a. hearsay.

And it carries a lot more weight then anyone's comments in here, which is ALL I meant when I quoted it.

If it comes from a company, it should be.

Well then start one, and conduct yourself how you believe you should.

I think what voicelessscramer meant was that for her, usin women in such a provocative way (half nakedly dancing) is sexist...

You clearly don't know what the word sexist means. Like, even a little bit.

Sexism: "The belief that one sex (usually the male) is naturally superior to the other and should dominate most important areas of political, economic, and social life. "

Until Taiji makes some sort of statement about his views on women, merely hiring female back dancers is NOT in any way an indication of sexism unless it comes out that they are being coerced and he knew about it. Which is extremely unlikely.

Considering it is STANDARD in the music industry for musician, mostly in pop, to hire backup singers of the sex that the musician's stage persona is into you can't infer anything from this. All this shows is a desire to damn Taiji. I don't see any outrage about Yoshiki hiring cage dancers for "Born to be Free" (All white! He must be a racist too!), or hide's exposed breast dancers. The hypocrisy and ignorance is staggering.

Kaya is gay, he mostly uses male dancers and drag queens because that's what he likes. Is he a self hating man-hater?

Lady Gaga mostly uses half naked males in her music videos? Are you inferring that she hates men?

What has Taiji done that him auditioning dancers makes him sexist? Granted you all might know something about his marriage that I don't so fill me in. Otherwise you're all full of shit.

This is going to be shit.

Why is this going to be shit?
Broadway mad a musical about the time Elvis, Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison met in a studio by accident. Its supposed to be really good. If its a semi-autobiographical production it could be interesting.

It could likely suck, but it might not.

So, what you are saying Lee is that revenge with the interest of financial gain does NOT equal money grabbing and exploitation ...?

Where the hell did you infer that from? All I said was that I take the industry source's insight seriously.
