For people that are comfortable with it, I thought it might be good if we knew each other's name or something like that... Who feels safe with it, feels. Who does not, it's okay. :)
To start with, my legal name is Veronika, but my real name is Nat. I can't explain that one well, I just have too ambivalent feelings toward "Veronika" to consider it a name I like to be called by on regular basis. Sort of react to it, yet it is not what I'd call "my name". Nice to meet you.
-
Hello, Nat.
Alex is short for Alexander.
-
Olli. Pleased to meet you.
-
Hey Nat,
my name's Katarina but I'd rather be called Kati (tho, my real life friends have a couple of other names for me, but I'd rather not tell these here  )
-
Melina...but i've been baptised with the name Amalia...but my sweet mama calls me Melina since when i was born.so Melina :P
-
And this is Pearl.
Nice to meet you all.
-
Watashi wa Sander desu :) Joroshiku :)
Altho my friends sometimes call me Maripuu or Marps (Maripuu is my last name)
Now can anyone tell me how many mistakes did I make? :)
-
Saana. No nicknames or shorter forms. Nice to meet you all.
-
I'm very glad to know names of you all. (and I should bookmark this thread or at least read it many times.)
Pearl, I think you do have a beautiful name.
Everyone of you has, this has just striken (grammar mistake, probably) me in the first place.
And Kati, fine with me/ agreement on that, it is definately shorter :))
Are you all okay with me calling you by names in other threads, if I remember them at the moment?
-
Joroshiku spelled in Estonian is spelled as it is in Japanese so that's correct ;)
And well... Boku wa it is then... :D
-
You can call me Merry if you want. I don't mind. It's not my legal name.
My partner's name is Cloud. Yes, some people do have stupid nature-sounding names like that.
-
No, it's because he had crazy parents who named him Cloud Strife.
-
I was joking, oh my. :D
-
hello all well my Name is Dian Puspasari everyone I knew call me Dian (Dian from Java language its mean Candle in English :P )

-
And how is it read please? :) I read it as English pronunciation, which I am afraid is not the right one when it's Indonesian....?
-
im dave lol , what an unoriginal name :P :(
-
Every name is original when used by those that love you. :)
-
And how is it read please? :) I read it as English pronunciation, which I am afraid is not the right one when it's Indonesian....?
well its hard to explain how to pronounciation my name...
Dian = Dee for the a its like the a when you pronounciation Hayashi and the n its just like English pronounciation for n

-
Thanks Valentine for your sweet comment
Your name is also beautiful. :D
-
Pearl, you're welcome :)
-
And Dian, of course, take your time. :) It would be okay if you didn't explain too, but I don't want to risk I'll be reading your name all the times wrong, as names do mean a lot through life, different names, different roles, different roles, different ways to achieve balance :)
-
ok Val :D I think to pronounciation for puspasari its like this
Puspasari = Poospasaree in English pronounciation but for the a is still the same with this a
dianne_dejarjayes :
well its hard to explain how to pronounciation my name...

I guess I can't go wrong if I'm reading it in French?
Hu? Sorry, I don't understand ^^"
-
You said you don't know how to describe the pronounciation of it, so I thought reading it as it would go in your mother tongue can not do any harm.

Christine
-
I like that name, Sirimono... it's part of a KISS song! :D
Hm, mine is kind of boring... Anja.
My parents chose names for me and my sis that can't be changed to cute names on purpose.
For example "Annie" wouldn't really be from my name. Rather from Anna or Anne. My parents are cruel people!
-
necromanced thread, go! XD
Elisabeth >_> Millie works fine too. I hear them about equally much.
-
Hm, mine is kind of boring... Anja.
My parents chose names for me and my sis that can't be changed to cute names on purpose.
Anja is the russian cute form of the name anna ^^ but in russian every name has about 19384939393 cute forms... and some are not really easy to understand... for example Wanja -> Iwan, Wanka, Wanetschka, Wanjuscha
basically your name is a cute form :3
I'm just unhappy that my name means "the christian"
-
I love Russian ;_;
______
Well, my name it's not common at all, but it's not weird to hear it either, I was named after my grandmother Trinidad (Spanish for Trinity, bible thing), who passed away when my dad was about my age. I don't like people to call me that, so if you're going to refer to me by my real name, please use Trini. When I was a child I despised that name until my teens, because it's a grandma sounding name. And of course, people just CAN'T hold themselves and ask me "where's Tobago?", but well...
Nice to meet you :)
-
Xue Ying. But everyone calls me Jas. =3

Evelyn Kornalijnslijper

@ Sirimono: Don't worry - it's hard to avoid the Christianity while choosing names here in European area. :P
Der weibliche Vorname Anja ist eine russische Koseform von Anna/Anne. Er bedeutet übersetzt Gnade bzw die Begnadete.
-> Anna: Nach katholischer und orthodoxer Überlieferung ist Anna (hebräisch Hannah) der Name der Großmutter von Jesus Christus, der Mutter Marias und Gattin Joachims (hebräisch Jojakim).
Translated (roughly ): The female name Anja is the russian term of endearment from Anna/Anne. It means blessing or the blessed.
-> Anna: According to Catholic and Orthodox lores Anna (Hebrew "Hannah") is the name of Jesus Christ's grandmother, Mary's mother and Joachim's (Hebrew "Jojakim") wife.
:P I'm Jesus' granny! Yay!
 Wait! My father's name is Joachim! My father is my husband? Ewwwwwwwww!!!!! :(
-
 Wait! My father's name is Joachim! My father is my husband? Ewwwwwwwww!!!!! :(
hey but most european names come from the christianity or latin/greek.
I think it's extremely interesting to research names actually :o
my name is just especially bad because it's not just the name of a person appearing in the bible... it means translated "the christian". My name states that i must be christian and of no other belief :(

Sigrid comes from the rather northern parts of europe, scandinavia.
It means something like the pretty victory (german sieg = victory)

-
Joonas desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

-
Hey, once I was giving an interview (about lifestyle of Czech lesbians) and I was given a choice of cover-up names. Guess which I chose? :D :D
Oh, really?!!! I feel so proud!!! ^_______^
Btw, is that interview online? I'd love to read it.
-
Hehe. :D
Unfortunately - no, it was for one of the minor women magazines which - I think - don't have any internet version. And it was almost 5 years ago, anyway. :D
I did one more in winter 2005 (? probably), which was for a Polish gay magazine and that was online for some time, at least I think so. But probably not anymore. Will check.
-
Thank you. :D
And by the way, why did you choose "Lada" from all those names? :D
-
Because I like it. :)
-
Because I like it. :)
I'm glad you like it but trust me, this name causes only problems. :D
Czechs: everyone calls me "a princess" :D
Foreigners: no one can pronounce it right  It's so simple, just 2 syllables... but no. (and our Japanese teachers sometimes say "Rada-san" instead of "Lada-san" )
-
Lada... hmm.. that was a type of my grandfather's car.... :D
-
I am so sorry, i dont want to insult you, but
isn't Lada is a russian car model?
And i understand your teacher, it is kind a difficult to
spell L letter to japanese people~
Remember "Deant note" anime - they say "eru" instead "L"~
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada Yes, it is. And don't worry, I got used to it - people often have associations like this when they hear my name for the first time. :D
And it's not actually true that it's diffucult for Japanese to pronounce "l", they just don't see the difference between "l" and "r", so they mix its usage.
-
My name's Megan.

Oh boy, I signed up with my "real" name and once I'd done it realised that nobody else had. I felt a bit silly, actually.
Well I also signed up with my real name. :P I do use nicknames sometimes but it's annoying when you get tired of them but are stuck with it because that's the way people know you now. When I use my real name, there's no point getting tired of it since it won't go away anyway. ;D
So, I'm Nathalie. ;) With an "h" - I don't think it'll be a problem here but most American/British people tend to write my name without one. :-\

Anyway, my name is Angela..or well, Aggeliki in Greek.

I'm Nica^__^ Everyone think I say Erica, when I introduce myself >< It's pretty annoying. I think my name comes from latin and means victress (Or well I don't know if i spelled it right o__O My english suX), but I'm not sure :D
-
...from latin and means victress

-
Nice thread) It's interesting to learn new names from various states.
I'm kinda lazy to make up nicknames for myself, hence my name is Victoria *in my country it's been pronounced as 'Victorija* which means 'victory,' but my relatives often call me Vita --'life' in Latin-- 'cause once they'be been told it was a short version for my official name xD I don't mind this weird mistake though, because I like both meanings, as well as duality.
